Coming Attractions © 2022 Peter A. Rafle Jr. All Rights Reserved [SONG NUMBER 7 for FAWM 2022] You think it’s a sure thing as the House lights dim Her head on your shoulder As the show begins You’re watching her She’s watching the screen She’s only thinking bout the next big thing. You bought two tickets for the main event Popcorn, soda and junior mints But before the feature hits the silver screen Three minute previews Just to make you scream. You came for her but She keeps you waiting through The coming attractions The Coming Attractions Chorus: Only the kisses, Explosions and chases The best of the action A tease and a taste A flickering glimpse of what’s in store But it only leaves you wanting more The Coming Attractions She’s the one who haunts your dreams The leading lady in your fantasy scenes Took all your courage To ask her out She said yes But you’re starting to doubt Did she come for you Or is she just here for the coming attractions? The Coming Attractions Chorus: Only the kisses, Explosions and chases The best of the action A tease and a taste A flickering glimpse of what’s in store But it only leaves you wanting more The Coming Attractions Here’s a spoiler You’ll never make it that far: You’re only an extra She’s always the star The big blockbuster’s Just a little distraction She comes early For the coming attractions The Coming Attractions And before the final reel is done You know this script is wrapped and done There’s no sequel coming soon Next Saturday night you’ll be Up in your room While in balcony back row She’s becoming Someone else’s Coming Attraction Coming Attraction She comes early for the coming attractions.

Betty’s Getting Ready © 2022 Peter A. Rafle Jr. All Rights Reserved [SONG NUMBER 6 for FAWM 2022] Betty’s getting ready Betty’s got a date Putting on her makeup He said he’d pick her up at eight Oh Betty’s getting ready Betty’s getting ready. Betty’s getting ready tonight. He sometimes brings her flowers He says they match her eyes He may not be Prince Charming But she likes it when he tries. He almost always pays for dinner He’s almost never late He almost said he loved her Betty knows she’ll have to wait Oh Betty’s getting ready Betty’s getting ready tonight. Betty likes to dance At that funky little cajun cafe It’s as hot as an oven, But Betty says she likes it that way She’s had her share of Saturdays Waiting by the phone Nothing worse than Sunday morning Waking up alone. Oh Betty’s getting ready Betty’s getting ready tonight. Betty is a modern gal With a real old fashioned name. She likes old fashioned fellas She knows how to play the game. They all want the same thing You know they always do Betty says that’s OK She wants the same thing too. Oh Betty’s getting ready Betty’s getting ready tonight. Betty likes to dance At that funky little cajun cafe It’s as hot as an oven, But Betty says she likes it that way Oh Betty’s getting ready Betty’s getting ready tonight. Betty’s getting ready Betty’s got a date… One eye on the kitchen clock It’s almost half past eight. Oh Betty’s getting ready Betty’s getting ready. Betty’s getting ready tonight. Betty’s getting ready. Betty’s getting ready tonight.

Take Away (What Remains) © 2022 Peter A. Rafle Jr. All Rights Reserved [SONG NUMBER 4 for FAWM 2022] Take away my inhibitions Take away my old regrets Take away the sweet temptations Expectations never met Take away the scars and bruises Every time that I got burned Obsession with who wins or loses Take away the lessons learned Take all that away And what remains? What remains? Take all that away What remains? Take away my hesitation Free me from the pain of doubt Take away the fear of failure Cut the roots and pull it out. Take away my superpowers Take away my kryptonite The things that haunt me in the hours In between the day and night Take all that away And what remains? What remains? Take all that away What remains? Would I still be me? Would we still be us? Would we ever meet On that crosstown bus? Everything we’ve grown and nurtured These are things I’ll never trade Leave me every fight and makeup Leave me all the love we’ve made So leave it all just as you found it Leave the scars and bruises too. Tears and doubt and hesitation Leave me us and leave me you But please don’t leave me. Leave it all just as it is and was and still shall be. But please don’t leave me.

The End of the World (Looks A Lot Like This) © 2022 Peter A. Rafle Jr. All Rights Reserved [SONG NUMBER 2 for FAWM 2022] When I was a kid My favorite thing Was to read about The end of the world And to watch those old movies About the end of time When Worlds Collide Or the Martians arrive And the last few people Have to try to survive Oh yeah I loved to dream About the end of the world I’d lie in my bed And imagine that I Was the captain of a spaceship Pointed up at the sky As the comet got closer and We had to decide Who got to escape and Start a new life On brand new world And of course I always got the girl. At the end of the world But as I got older I had to concede Those science fiction stories That I loved to read In the dark With a flashlight: They really missed the mark Because the year 2000 Has come and gone And this everyday life Just goes on and on and on And on and on and on And I’m beginning to think That the end of the world is nothing like I thought it would be Not a cosmic collision Or a nuclear war Or destabilization Of the planetary core Not in the flash of A hydrogen bomb A volcanic eruption Or a meteor storm Not with a panic But irrational calm Not with explosions Or a zombie’s bite Just hate and deception And ignorant spite A ocean that rises a Little each night A steady erosion Of our will to fight (for what’s right) As we go gentle into the night. At the end of the world Not all at once In a glorious blaze Just little by little In a thickening haze Yeah I’m beginning to think That the end of the world Looks a lot like this Looks a lot like this Looks a lot like this I’m beginning to think That the end of the world Looks a lot like this.

The End of the World (Part 2) © 2022 Peter A. Rafle Jr. All Rights Reserved [SONG NUMBER 9 for FAWM 2022] OK Maybe I spoke too soon Joked too soon About the end of the world And how it might not go The way we were led to believe In those duck and cover days. That instead of a hot war Between the cold war powers It might be a piss warm sea Rising slowly over our heads. But here we are With pages ripped From a dog-eared script Apocalypse gears Rolling across frontiers Now there’s no guarantee That this is World War III Cooler heads might prevail And still the tail That’s wagging the dogs of war So maybe I joked too soon Spoke too soon About the end of the world And I sing this song Because I hope I’m wrong God I hope I’m wrong About the end of the world Because I hope I’m wrong God I hope I’m wrong About the end of the world.
